Girls, Is it normal for women at stores to ask a guy me what have I been up to today or what all do you have going on today? Or are they just nice?

That is normal for employees to say something like that if that is what you are referring to. I get that all the time at the grocery store I regularly shop at. The cashier will always ask if I have any exciting plans for the weekend (I always go to the grocery store on Saturdays). He/she is just being nice. It does mean that he/she is trying to hit on me or anything like that. It is called being friendly and having customer service. Because the employees at this particular store are all so nice it is a big reason why I keep going back. Everyone there is friendly and willing to help customers out. I am guessing this is the same case for you.

True, but that is good customer service to be nice. Better than the opposite when you think "Wtf, I'm never coming back here".
