What do people mean why they say they have daddy issues?

Typically it means that because they had a poor relationship with their father, they seek validation from other male figures that serve as a stand-in for their father. For example, a woman may go to extremes to please her boyfriend or husband because she's trying to get from him the attention and validation that she did not receive from her father.

This is usually directed toward women. Women who grew up having a bad relationship w their father or no relationship at all because he wasn’t in the picture for whatever reason. Basically not having a stable father figure in their life. This could lead to a lack of trust, especially in men, abandonment, as well as a lot of insecurities. Women w daddy issues try to seek validation w men in unhealthy relationships, trying to feel that void that was left by their absent father.

Usually it’s when kids grew up without having a proper father figure in their childhood. It varies but the dad could’ve been a drunk, an abuser, neglectful, a cheater, etc
