I used to be the guy that had like 3 pairs of shoes: one worn-out pair for everyday use, boots when the weather demanded it and some fancy, highly uncomfortable shoes for a special event. Glad to say I've come a long way since and have diversified my options. I can appreciate a nice pair of shoes or boots.
Just the other day, I had a female friend comment on my shoes, saying how much she liked them. Which made me think of why women are so conscious about shoes in the first place. I hardly ever notice what other people, men or women, wear.
I read somewhere that clean shoes indicate that a person is organized, responsible and observant, suggesting that you are well-groomed and meticulous. This could of course apply to both sexes.
What's you thing with shoes? Are they irrelevant, just practical, very important or a fetish?

Honestly, I don't much notice people's shoes that much. I am not the shoe type of girl that has tons of them littered on my closet floor. My girl is also the same. Not sure what that tells you because I feel like we are probably exceptions to how most girls are. I don't get that dressed up that much so my more fancy type shoes are very limited. I haven't bought a new pair in some time because mine are still almost like new. As far as everyday type shoes I wear sneakers. I do a lot of walking around campus. Then I have another pair I use exclusively for working out. Those get worn out pretty quick and I have to replace them about once a year. So shoes are not that important to me as you indicate they might be for a lot of girls.
Shoes are not that important that I would spend some serious money on them, but I've learned to appreciate them. To the point I might need to look for some extra space to put them in. For everyday use, it's usually sneakers for me. Two pairs to alternate on week days. Any other sort of shoes for occasions where I know I won't have to walk a long distance.
It's of course a very personal thing and I wasn't suggesting all girls have the same preferences. You might be very different from your girlfriend as shoes or clothes are concerned. Different styles for different moods or personalities.
I definitely don't have a shoe fetish... lol
I think they're very important, because women can often learn a lot about a guy based on what kind of shoes he wears.
