Girls, Ladies, how have you felt if a customer ever stared/checked you out?

I have worked retail with the public for many years. Quite honestly if a guy looks at me I am not necessarily gonna be upset. It all depends on how that go about it. Is a man leaning in, talking garbage getting creepy. I had a guy one day staring at me all creepy. Then he proceeded to say “dam you have clean nails.” As if I am supposed to be doing something with my hands other running the register, and stocking shelves. Pretty much I get stared at all day everyday, it just depends on their mannerisms when doing so, as well as the conversation they make. Some guys are just standing there with a respectful attitude, smiling, and staring at me. Honestly, my boyfriend was a customer in my work for two years, before he even had a full conversation with me. I would ask “how is your day”, he would say “it’s alright”. I reply “glad it is alright, I hope it gets better”, and he would not say another word. He would smile, and stare at me. He would also keep an eye on me from a distance when I had to deal with a shady tweaking customers. If he was in line, and I was dealing with a customer getting weird. After I rang him out he would stand near by to keep a close eye. He was always extremely respectful about it. Even when he would stare at me, and make eye contact. it never felt weird to me as he was always kind, and respectful about it.

Four years ago when he was just a customer, like everyone else. Except he would keep an eye on me, with the weirdo customers. l would ask how is your day going all I got was an “it’s alright” . One day he had an actual conversation when I cut my thumb at work. Then two years ago he came into my works I just though it was a bother day. Then he when he came to the register he said “may I ask you a question”, I was think wait is he actually tryna talk. I said “yes you may ask me anything”. He asked “are you married?” Then he followed that
with wanting my number. I respectfully told him I do not give out my number. He immediately took a step back, and apologized for asking. After I had his number we started dating, two months went by, and he asked me to be his girlfriend. Now we have been together almost two years.
