You can’t live in fear, or think that one relationship is going to define another one going forward. It is very unlikely you’d encounter such a specific sort of woman again.

The thing is I think this hurt so bad because I made myself completely vulnerable being on the spectrum I didn’t think I was ever gonna get into a relationship there were some nights where I just laid there in bed thinking what it would be like to be in a relationship and if somehow if things would ever change for me. That relationship started when I was 29 I’m now 33 I really don’t think lightning strikes twice. My social skills have always been a major weak area due to my disability.

You should really think of therapy. I know you said you were looking but that was months ago and you’re still in a pretty bad place. Like your fear of getting hurt or badly treated again is just as palpable as it was last year which isn’t healthy. You really shouldn’t try to be any woman’s boyfriend until you have healed from your ex, which you have not whatsoever. Your ex is still such a huge part of your life, your new girlfriend would pay for her mistakes which isn’t fair. I could totally imagine you asking a new woman questions related to your ex, making comparisons and other things that would sabotage.

The thing is prior to this relationship I have this innocent naive viewpoint on relationships and I truly believe that it fundamentally changed me as a person. I wouldn’t ask questions I just wouldn’t trust you would have to prove yourself before trust is given

It’s unfortunate for sure that your first relationship was a really bad one, but you don’t have to let it define who you are going forward or how you date. If you need to be reminded that there are still good women out there, look at your mom, your sisters, aunts, female friends. They are great proof that the amount of decent women in this world outnumber the ones who are like your ex.
