Why did she make a big deal about me meeting her dog?

We are “just friends”; so just to cool down my feelings about the situation I have been giving her a wide birth. Any way after a mouth of minimal contact , she asked if I wanted to go hiking. I stated yes. she brought her dog, something she haven’t done whenever we have gone out. She told me she thought I like to meet her dog, so she brought her. It seamed she was interested in how the dog and I would react to each other. Why do you think she wanted to introduce the two of us?

P. S she has told me ( one while we were on a date) she would never take her dog with us. She also has sayed she has to be careful accepting jobs so she has time for the dog.

Some people are completely obsessed with their pets and act like they are people , and act like they are really important part of their lives , they did studies on this , and the conclusion was , those people suffered some kind of mental illness by being so obsessed with their pets. So if this girl wanted to see how her dog acted around you , like that was important to her , understand you might be dealing with a girl , that has some sort of mental illness. It’s ok to love your pet and take care of your pet , but when you act like your pet makes decisions for you , you are fucked in the head , do yourself a favor if you continue seeing this girl , check her medicine cabinet
