A high school memory: A girl put her number in my phone, but I only ever texted her for printing favors?

I was reflecting on a high school memory recently and realized I never really understood what was going on.

Back in high school, I was walking between classes in the hallway with a girl from one of my classes. Out of nowhere, she took my phone and put her number in it. I don't remember if we were working on a class project or anything at the time, but I was pretty confused as to why she did it.

I never ended up texting her to chat or hang out. The only time I actually used her number was later on when I texted her asking if she could print something for me for class.

Looking back on it now, was she putting her number in my phone because she was interested in me, or did I miss something obvious? How would you interpret what happened?

Sharing a phone number usually means nothing. I have 100s of phone numbers that mean nothing to me.

It is illegal to ask girls to hang out. You were wise not to do it.
