Why do guys hate being called "bro"?

I say bro alot, so sometimes I joke around and guys get really mad when I call them bro. Why?

It's like calling a girl, "Hey fatty!" on your first encounter.

Guys don't want to feel like they are being put in the "friend zone" from a girl off the bat. Even if he has no interest in the girl romantically. It just doesn't feel right as if to say, "Hey guy I just want to let you know I don't find you attractive in anyway and you are only worthy as a chummy friend."

Well maybe is a guy thing, I feel a little ackward and weird out when I hear a girl calling me bro and believe me that is unusual not that I get mad just a little weird out :P. . . I'm used to say "bro" 2 my good guy friends, and viceversa :)
