It's an immaturity issue. I use to joke around in our 20s when we first got togehter and called my fiance bruh, bro, homie, homes in my most manliest voice my girly vocals can muster because he would have such a reaction to it; it was like saying Voldemort, and I found it hilarious.

Then somewhere over the years he stopped caring about it. I asked him why and he basically explained that it's just a word, does make me any less of his lady, and that the only reason he cared was because he never hear women say it.

So my theory is, immature men have a hard line in the sand on what men and women do, until they are mature enough to see that were all just people.

I don't think this is a common thing, but no one but your own brother should ever call you "bro." It just sounds douchey in general. And as others said, it's both Friendzoning someone and sounding like a Frat Boy, at the same time. It's not that annoying, but I don't want to hear girls saying things like "Dude" or "Bruh," either.

I hate it when ANYBODY calls me or anyone else that or "dude" or "bruh". Especially when they're referring to a girl. It sounds retarded. Everyone's into all these stupid shortcuts! Pretty soon, our language is gonna go back to nothing more than a collection of grunts and groans, again!!

It's just the way that guys address each other "What's up Man, Dude, Bro, Buddy etc."
It's kind of a way for guys to signal that they're not a threat to one another, mutual respect.
It also depends on the tone when you say it. The tone can indicate that we're cool, or we got a problem.
On the rare occasion that a woman calls me Dude or Bro it can sound like she thinks she's a man squaring up to me, especially if it's during an argument. It's confusing for guys because she ain't our fucking Dude or Bro.

Guys think it's weirs because I think most guys think it's a girl only thing, example , a guy tells a girl "Girl, just go ask him it'll be fine," or a girl says to a guy "Bro, just ask tell her man, it'll be fine dude," stuff like that is the what that gender talks so if a guy talks like a girl most girls are like "Yay he undrrstands us," but if a girl talk like a guy it's like "Wtf just happened, did this girl just switch genders all of a sudden?"
