What's your idea of a stupid girl?

By stupid - I'm only 25% talking about her IQ level.

I'm talking about " one of those girls -" you know, the beauty queen, overly social type.

So far I have:

* Stunningly beautiful / Stunningly arrogant

* Manipulative - especially with guys

* Irresponsible

* No clear goals -

But, I don't see how that would make them stupid. Maybe the last two, but definitely not the first two.

Take Marissa Mayer, for example, who's listed in Forbe's Magazine. Marissa is actually beautiful, but is really smart and is one of richest people on earth. She obviously wouldn't meet your last two criteria, but what about the first? She's beautiful and smart, and if being both makes her arrogant then it wouldn't be surprising to me.

And, if the girl is both beautiful and smart, it wouldn't be surprising that she would be able to manipulate men very easily. I see pretty and "dumb" girls get manipulated by a**holes, and it's not clear that if it's because they're actually stupid or they have low self-esteem or something.

But, I can't imagine someone like Marissa Mayer ever being manipulated by a guy. I just don't see how she would ever let that happen.

To me, stupid girls are the ones who meet your last two criteria. And, if they let themselves get manipulated by a**holes then they're even dumber.

Also, by your using the criterion of being beautiful in your list that define a "stupid" girl, you set a prejudice against women yourself. By assuming that smart girls have to be ugly, you make it harder for someone like Marissa Mayer from being taken seriously by men.

You might think that sounds ridiculous, but think about it from the perspective of a male employer looking to hire software engineers. Consider the stereotype that only chunky girls with glasses ever work hard in her computer science courses, whereas the pretty girl probably got by cheating off of some nerdy loser.

If the male employer honestly believes this, then he has no reason to hire the pretty girl unless he plans to bang her and believes that he has a chance. And, even if he does, he still has to pay her the salary of the software engineer, so that really makes her an outrageously expensive prostitute. It really doesn't make any sense.

And, when you consider how no one ever thinks that handsome men get by solely on their looks but on their own merits, it really seems unfair to judge girls by their looks in that way as well.

I'm not saying that pretty girls have it just as hard as the uglier ones, because that's not true either. But, we can't always attack the intelligence of the pretty girls either. Ugly girls can be just as stupid as the pretty girls. I'll admit, that the uglier ones, on average, probably have to work harder in life than the prettier one but this isn't always the case.

It's really hard for me to classify anyone as stupid because there aren't any gender specific characteristics other than being obviously ignorant, uneducated and perhaps untalented.

I think girls and guys have a different idea of what stupid is. Girls like to think stupid means anything other than an unkempt nerd, because often times the girls who go around talking about stupid girls are just that--unkempt nerds who are seeking validation that they're superior because they're "smart" So they label anyone who is average or below average as stupid.

Guys tend to think extremes with stupidity, which is why intelligence isn't a high priority for them. They don't need or want(who wants it though?) a smart ass, know it all, bookworm who doesn't pay any attention to her appearance or take pride in her appearance.

So for that reason I refuse to make it a gender specific characteristic.

Thanks - yea I know it's not gender specific, I just needed some characteristics that put that idea in people's heads - that this girl isn't as amazing as she thinks she is basically.

Alot of times girls like that know they're stupid and society ridicules them for it. I'll be the first to say there's nothing wrong with being stupid, simply because not everyone is meant to be intellectual or to have a career that requires intellect or personality. But girls who ride on beauty who happen to be stupid know it. They aren't completely oblivious to the obvious. They know, which is why they resort to what they know is valued and prized--their beauty.

She doesn't sound stupid to me. I think the girl you described just needs to get her head on and priorities right but she's not what I consider stupid. If she's stunningly beautiful and manipulative she almost doesn't need to be smart because there will always be guys around ready to do things for her so she'll be good

I consider a stupid person to be ignorant, happily ignorant, uneducated and not wanting to do better in life and someone who makes sh*tty choices.

Like someone who's 25 with 5 kids and doesn't plan on going to school to better themselves and improve their situation sounds stupid to me.

This question has nothing to do with anything you've incorrectly implied.

Of course the characteristics are stereotypical - because they are typically observed to some extent in these types of girls. Stupid is a rather harsh word, but that's how society describes them - even thought it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with her intelligence level.
