Do girls get nervous when a guy they like/find attractive stands close to them?

I'm starting to think this girl I've been talking to might like me. She isn't very forward about it if she does, but just how long we hold eye contact and how she focuses on me in conversations and how nice she is makes me wonder.

But I've noticed that every time I stand close to her or lean in close to her to look at what she's reading or to see what she's doing I notice she gets a lot quieter and doesn't really respond to my jokes or teasing like she would otherwise if I were standing farther away.

So I thought maybe she didn't like me getting close so I would talk for a bit and walk away so she wouldn't feel like some creepy guy was hovering all in her personal space but she always comes back and talks to me more which makes me think she doesn't hate me or anything. Is she just nervous when I sit close to her? Do you get nervous if a guy you find cute sits close to you or is standing close to you?

I do. It depends on how much I like them too so the more I like him the more nervous I get If I liked a guy a ton he would know all he has to do is feel my pulse and it will be going crazy. like I just ran five miles or something. I also get really quiet too but it's a paranoia of I wonder in my breath smells(after eating), I wonder if I smell(long day sweating maybe outside or at the gym) and I'm thinking "please don't get to close to me f*** f*** he is getting closer hold my breath don't move if there are any odors then if I don't move he won't smell it," lol... it sort of a insecurity thing... also...

Yes! She definitely likes you, I'm the exact same! Lads you have crushes on are usually the worst because it's a crush, it's different from properly liking someone I think. It's like the start of it all. I get nervous and if they're good looking too, it's worse! She'll feel under pressure, awkward and a bit insecure, worrying about how she looks, what you'll think of her and if you can any of her bad points. I'm the same! She'll be getting butterflies. They don't know how to act, they want to impress you and you being close to her is scary!

Yes. I do not have any trouble at all talking to ANYONE, ANYWHERE, EVER. However, if I really like you and we have not started dating yet, I am a bit taken aback. Not really nervous, but not really sure of myself at the start. So I am more quiet. I think I am summing up the situation and...You. lol
