so I had my prom last night I was dancing with this guy I didn't know and as I was grinding on him he slid his fingers in between mine and he rested them on my hips while we danced. what was the point of this like pretty much holding hands during a fast song.

Guys usually hold hands when they feel close to or possessive about a girl. You kids are young and so there's also a chance that he's a little awkward and just wanted to convey his desire for you on a night that is usually so special for young people. I wouldn't hold it against him.
