I've had this thing with this guy for years, since we were young. Well anyways he told me that I'm one of a kind and I'm not exactly sure what he means by that. Is he saying that he's never met a girl like me or that I'm perfect? Or what?

It means that, like you, he too is young, and may be too chicken to come up with something more original or personal. Adolescent dudes experiment before they grow the confidence to come right out and confess an attraction. You can always ask the guy what he means by this cliche. If you hear more compliments, then it's obvious he cares enough about you to deliberately say positive things. You could always counter by saying you like him and you think he's pretty cool, or you're glad you two have had a chance to become pals. Who would reject you for returning such a compliment? Besides, if you don't search for a dialog in which you begin to share feelings, you may never get him to expose how he feels about you on his own. Just remember that young men at this age often live in sheer terror of new emotions which they've never learned to handle. It's no secret why they act so dorky and awkward.

I remember that a girl in 10th grade called my house one night and said that she liked me and wanted to spend time with me. She sounded sincere and I knew it wasn't a prank. I was absolutely shocked that a girl could feel this way about me. I hung up before I found out her name. I lay in bed wondering about this girl while my heart pounded. I never found out who she was, probably because I hurt her feelings pretty deeply. And of course I felt like a fool for being so petrified in the first place. This is definitely one of my "time machine" moments. All I'm saying is that you'll gain far more positive experiences from taking little risks, than you could ever hope for waiting for a teenage guy to make the right decision.

Unique, one of a kind, special, etc. It means he has a certain level of emotional investment, or in laymans terms "he's got a place for you in his heart". No guy that doesn't like you would say that. Guy-girl friendships are hardly platonic, as male sexuality will always get in the way of a close friendship developing, unless the two have known each other for so long the boundaries of friend and family are blurred.

So if you like him, start acting like it. If you don't, try to let him off easy, since I can see you appreciate his friendship.

Last summer I used to talk to this guy who would say stuff like that all the time. He liked me so I took it as he has never met a girl like me (I'm a pretty strange person lol), but it was a good thing. He was one of those people that I was always myself around and he liked that. So I think that's what he meant. Maybe that is what the guy who tells you this means too? (Not that you are strange in any way. Just that you are different and he likes that about you).

its an endearment term used to show affection towards a friendship or relationship that is not common... being one of a kind to him can mean many things that your simply not a carbon copy of a typical person standard and boring it means your unique and depending on what feelings are in the mix if your unsure hey you know him for years ask him in a curious way what does he mean exactly and see what he says^^

I would think your special. I know when I say that along with being special I am also nto sure what to do with the girl. As in she is one of a kinda who should I act around her what should I do to make her happy ect.

Guess I'd have to be there. As I wasn't, it's "hard tellin not knowin.'" Could mean he thinks you're a princess, but it could mean he just thinks you're unique in some way. I'd tend to think it was a compliment.
