Why did he nod at me when I smiled at him?

I caught him looking at me a few times and we made eye contact. The longest was when I was smiling and looked at him he looked at me and nodded. Why did he do that is it interest?

Well when people smile at me I usually smile back or nod. I mean, it would be rude if someone smiled at me and then I just ignored them. I think it's a normal reaction, nothing uncommon.

It's just a way of saying hello or acknowledging the person. People nod at each other all the time, usually in passing. At the least it sounds like you've caught his attention.

I should have added at the end that when my friend and I were walking to the ca park I heard someone whistling a tune. When I turned it was him and he looked directly ay me.
