What does it mean when a guy shares his interests with you?

Lately he's been talking to me more, he is obsessed with cars and always shares pictures of his car and his experiences at car shows with me.
Does he just want someone to talk to or does he like me?
When we first started talking he did used to ask about me and try to get to know me but I don't feel comfortable telling people about my personal life so I used to direct the conversation around him. Is he respecting my decision or just self obsessed?
I heard when guys like a girl they kinda show off around them, is that what he's doing?
Men are so confusing.

He is trying to find common interests.
Guys show off their GUNS at the gym and cars at the lot , but that doesn't mean they want to bone each other... well.. usually.

Even if there a girl I don't like I still talk about my interests. It's just a conversation piece.

That being said he could still like you, but him talking about his interests isn't the best indicator.

He likes talking to you or is seeing if you have anything in common - maybe likes you

Maybe since you don't talk about yourself, you made him think you only want to know about him
