Covering up his crotch area with something or maybe putting his hands in his pockets to subtly hold it to the side/make adjustments is an indicator. But just because a guy holds an object in that area or hand his hands in his pockets doesn't mean he's getting hard.

Looking at your other responses I should mention guys don't get boners just by talking to or looking at a pretty girl. It comes from thinking about or noticing sexual cues. You shouldn't expect a guy to have a boner just because you're talking to him.

There's not really a difference in boners between teenage and adult guys. As a teenager maybe he'll have a smaller dick and also it can happen completely randomly for no reason more often as a teen.

Seriously though, it's likely that he has one if he's desperately crossing his legs or putting something (usually a book or laptop) over his crotch in order to hide it. And sometimes he'll put his hands in his pocket and push out the clothe so it won't press into it.

that one is pretty easy but it can simply be a slight difference in how the crotch area looks because it might either A: be small or B: not be much of a boner or forming
