Guys, do you send winky emojis to girls you're interested in or not at all or to lots of girls just because?

I usually only send winky faces if I'm flirting. But I've been texting a guy friend lately (friend of my boyfriend, he has a girlfriend, my boyfriend knows we talk so it's nothing secret or anything like that) but he's been sending me lots of winky emojis lately and I wasn't sure if some guys just do that a lot? Lol I am aware this is a weird question :D

I send them in the same way that I flirt in real life. If I am friendly with a girl and she knows it is harmless flirting, I will send them occasionally. I can do that whether I am in a relationship or not, because it is not serious. But if I am not in a serious relationship, then if I am interested in a woman, I am likely to send more. And that includes women that I care very much about, but for whatever reason there is not romance involved. The winkies are a way of letting you know you are close to the person, even if not in a relationship way.

I'm not sure how old or how immature you think I am but I assure you that both your guesses are most likely incorrect. and just so you know, just because the younger generation texts and uses social media a lot doesn't mean they don't communicate in person as well.

And that was not a baseless insult. Your sense of superiority is clear and you did not grow up with technology. There was no "baselessness" and the insult was not very severe so maybe you should stop being so defensive. If you weren't condescending in the first place, I wouldn't have had to defend myself.

I've been working with technology since before computer technology was available to the general consumer public. I had cell phone service (if your age range is correct) before you were even born, and before that had trunked 800Mhz radio service with PTT telephone patch in my car. So technology has been my life. It's how I've made my living. And you, in your condescending and needlessly defensive manner, dismiss that as I "didn't grow up with technology." Put simply, I've seen more technology than you'll likely ever know. And from the many threads here, it seems that younger people typically shun voice communications in favor of text based communications where the nuances of speech can easily be lost. And then they wonder why so many things get misinterpreted. I'm done with your absolute ignorance.

Winky's are usually flirty, but people can use them differently. I wouldn't read into it too much just yet.
