I used to have dreams where I'd get raped but I liked it. Then I actually did get raped (and of course it was awful), but I still have the dreams and they're still a fantasy, not a nightmare. What is WRONG with me?

I wouldn't neccessarily go running for the doctor just yet This fantasy, believe it or not, is not uncommon. I'll say 2 things:

do you know what a fantasy is? It's your creative imagination. Something unrestricted by reality. In other words, it's something we create in our minds and romanticize about more so because we know they won't happen. But in this case, it did. But it was "awful" right? That has to do with subconcious meaning of your fantasy.

2. See, you don't want to be attacked when trying to get home to see your family or meet up with your friends. Or be assaulted on the streets, robbed, sexual abbused, and left for dead. And then there's the rape of someone you know. On a date and he forces himself on you when you do not consent. That's not your fantasy, is it? No, I'm guessing it's the underlying act of rape that is such a turn on.

You want to be dominated. Feel like someone is in control. That they want your body purely for sexual pleasure of it. SometimesThere's a turn on about being vulnerable during sex. Playing the innocent, naive girl. All these alone and by themselves sound like a common fantasy. But when you Think about, it's almost the definition of what rape is.

So, I don't think something is wrong with you. Read about it. Look it up online. It's one of womens top 10/20/100-something-sexual fantasies. So I hope I've helped you see that what you fantasize may "rape" in theory, but that does not mean you want the "real" non-fantasy version of this erotic fantasy. It's common. Don't beat yourself up.

Lol I don't think so. I've had these dreams for since I was probably . . . 14 or so and I didn't have anything against the opposite sex then. I don't now either, but I am currently in a man-hating rampage lol because none of the men in my life are coming through for me. I looked it up once and the site I used said I want to be overpowered sexually but not actually harmed. I thought that was more accurate for me, but I can't be sure because the only sexual experience I've ever had was the rape.

I think you should see a counsellor who is trained in dealing with rape victims.

Don't feel bad or guilty about your fantasies. Everyone has fantasies that they would probably hate to have happen in reality. A lot of women fantasize about rape... Have you ever read romance novels where the heroine is kidnapped by a pirate or a desert Sheikh or a marauding knight? Of course, in real life it would be horrible.

You probably do feel affected by your rape and it sounds like you need to get help dealing with this. That is what is wrong with you. But don't feel guilty about your fantasies. They are normal.

Rape is the most terrible thing a guy could ever do to a girl. Please go and get yourself some psychological help. There are rape-crisis centers all over the place. Please contact one of them and get yourself some help.

I can't afford a psychologist and I'm sure as hell not telling my parents about this to get their help. Besides, it doesn't affect my daily life. I've never even cried about it. It was about a year ago and I'm fine now. I just don't understand why I get have the dreams still . . .

I'm absolutely certain rape victims are able to get free help. Your confidentiality wil be assured. No one would know, unless you tell them, about the care and help you're receiving. Just do a google search for rape/crisis centers for your state. Also try a search for 'free help for rape victims'. It's a well know fact that although rape vicitms think their fine, they are actually not but are suppressing the event. That event will one day force you to a mental breakdown. You need help.
