So, my friends and I were watching a movie, and I went to go sit on the couch next to my guy friend, when he put a pillow between us and said it was a "safety pillow". Why?

My guess but I would assume he's saying he has strong feelings about you that need to be prevented. Why I'm guessing that is because he called it a safety pillow. Otherwise I think he probably would have put the pillow there and not said anything about it.
