He finally admitted he loves me?

My long time friend and sometimes lover finally admitted he loved me, when being faced with loosing me. Then he became distant. This is a long distance affair. Any thoughts on why?

Sounds like he is major afraid of being hurt, or alienating you, or just downright confused about the whole thing, maybe even a little embarrassed. Confused probably fits his current state of thought right now! Sounds like you need to hunt him down and have a heart to heart talk. Loving your best friend is one of the greatest things that can happen between two good friends. You start out on a solid foundation for an amazing romantic relationship. (hope that describes your relationship as best friends who get along amazingly well.). If you are able to pull it off, you'll both be closer than couples who have dated for much longer. True and deep love are easier to "fall" into with a best friend, it's just getting over that fear factor. If he agrees to begin a romantic relationship, agree to start slowly and build on what you already have as best friends. If at all possible agree ahead of tome if something goes wrong that you both will work it out so you can remain best friends. That alone takes a ton of pressure off the relationship to succeed.

It does and did for my best friend, we'll be getting married in a little over two months. Love him so much and can't imagine loving anyone else the rest of our lives!

Best of luck to the both of you, hope you find the happiness that you seek together. Just don't put so much pressure on him or yourself for a romantic relationship; if it happens it happens!

Thank you for your advice. I know we need to see each other. But. Unfortunately, he is stationed overseas. So... We can't. Not until he's home on leave. Thanks again. And. With him, I think it may be the first two. Getting hurt and the alienation of me... We've both got some fear to work through. I hope that's it though.

Yep. Loved him first. He knew it. And rejected it. And I moved on sorta.

And. Now being faced with actually loosing me, he admitted he loved me. Then, poof. Disappeared.

He doesn't know what he wants smh. He will regret it. Maybe he doesn't handle his feelings well. Only you know how he is on a daily basis.

Yeah. Thanks. I'm sure he will. I don't feel like waiting around anymore on waiting. He's an amazing guy. Knows I've loved him. Against my better judgement. He's too difficult for me to understand. He refuses to open up. And I feel like he said he loves me out of exasperation and fear.
