Why does he keep saying he wants to bend me over and smack my ass?

If I'm texting him and I say something that's a bit rude like answering him back or being smart with him, he'll text me saying he'll bend me over or that he is dying to smack my ass. Why does he say this?

I mean I'd assume he's saying it because he wants to. However if you are close friends he might be comfortable enough to say it as a joke. (You know how best friends can insult eachother jokingly)
