It depends on what you may have been talking about before. What context was it in? How did it come up? I've been asked to cuddle with a guy a couple times before myself. Some of them were cool with it and others were a little annoyed. I think it depends on the guy. Some just really want t have another warm body next to them while others just want that warm body in bed for another activity to take place. I don't think it's always a bad thing.
It's a nice way of trying to have sex. Not every guy who only wants sex is going to be a straight up asshole about it. But guys typically dont want to ask a girl over JUST so she can cuddle. Cuddling is a prelude to sex in their eyes. they should be asking you on real dates, at least.

From my experience when a guy asks to "cuddle" they pretty much use that to get their foot through the door so to speak so that it can lead to something more, kissing, foreplay sex. Etc. No guy ever just wants to cuddle with someone they're attracted to
