He kissed me in his sleep?

So this guy, who I have a friendship/booty call relationship with, kissed me. While he was ASLEEP. We don't really kiss each other so it was out of the ordinary. But he woke me up, pulled my face up to his, and kissed me for like a full minute three times throughout the night. And once even asked me if what he was doing was okay. When I mentioned him being awake the next day (not the kissing) he says he never woke up. While he is prone to talking/cuddling in his sleep, is it even possible to do that while you're asleep? And if it is, what does it mean?

I've had full on conversations in the night with people I don't remember having so it is possible.

I've gone to the bathroom while fully asleep and heard of people doing day more while asleep so it's not that much of a stretch to kiss you especially if he talks and does stuff already
