You know, a lot of women like this position as well so I don't think that it has anything to do with being into butts. That said, anthropologists say that doggy style is exclusively the way early humans used to mate and it wasn't until language was developed that humans started facing each other during sex so your guy is most definitely not doing anything unique here.
