Thoughts on guys who ride motorcycles?
Hey bro, I think bikes are cool too, would love to get one, but the risks are just so high! I mean you get hit by a car, and your gone, not a chance. Why would you risk something like that ya know? You can be the best driver, but that doesn't mean everyone else is. Everyone else can be the worst driver, and it just takes one to blind side you in the darkness of night and your gone. My uncle was hit, somehow survived but needed surgery to save his leg, a guy recently died on the freeway my dad commutes on, and the list goes on.
The awesome MPG is a good reason, also speed, cost of a cheap but good bike.
But little room for storage, no distance between the car and yourself, and the rate of death is extremely high! I don't want to die by getting hit by some drunk idiot or on accident, so I would get a car that keeps me safe. As much as I want a bike and wish they were safer, I must refrain from indulging in that pleasure. If I get a family, I couldn't handle the fact that if I die, I would lose my family. All because of a bike. And I know the risks willingly so there would be no reason I didn't know how dangerous those are.
They are awesome, wish I could get one and wish they were safer. However, they aren't that is the fact and as much as that fact stings, I have to let my ego go and get a normal car. Which will be better and having a bike isn't everything.
Yeah man it's definitely more risky than driving a car, I try and keep my safety up by wearing visible clothing and proper gear. For me it's worth it though. I save so much time in the city and I can park in way more places... I probably save about 100-150 hours a year on my commute by using my bike. Also saving over $4000 a year because I don't have to pay for parking and gas is needed less. Insurance actually costs less as well. It all depends on your comfort level and how you weigh the risks vs rewards. For me it's worth it but for some it's not.
I hope you are safe bro! Truly! Stay safe out there! That is great you reap rewards like saving time and money, and on insurance too! Never thought about that! For me, at least the way I see it. Is that I can save up all this time, but if I die when I am 24 what can I do with all the time I saved if I am dead?
Yet, that isn't everyone and it depends where you live, busyness and such. You can commute way early than everyone and so on! So it is a lot of factors, like you said, fits some people.
That is not me! Haha, but again, may you be safe!
God Bless!
Hahah, I feel ya! I live in CA and have seen some bad traffic a few times. I live around 1.30 min from LA, not far enough if you ask me haha!
Riding motorcycles can be extremely dangerous. Driving a motor vehicle of any kind in traffic is risky enough as it is. A big problem is, a LOT of motorcyclists are reckless on the road and get into accidents because of that. The problem is far less that people don't watch for motorcyclists than it is motorcyclists don't apply appropriate caution needed when riding in traffic with other vehicles. Most people I know personally who ride do so quite recklessly and it's a wonder they're still alive, the way they ride on the road.
I have a several guy friends who have a street bike that they use as a means of transportation during the warmer days here. I have no issues with getting on the back of a bike as long as the person riding it isn't reckless and has a spare helmet for me. I mean I get it, a bike is cheaper, more fuel efficient, is easier to get around traffic with... but insurance for young drivers here is insane.
Yeah insurance can be a concern for sure but every bike I've owned has been so much cheaper. With decent coverage on my old bike (ninja 250) I paid $147 for insurance for the entire year.. in Boston! My new bike is a 600cc so it's faster and higher insurance but it's still only $700 for the year and that's for maximum coverage. My car costs $2300 for the year for example.
Sadly, I live in Ontario... all except 3 of my friends ride without insurance as riders below 25 have to pay $3000+ annually. For example, a friend of mine who's 21, has his M2, been riding for a little over 2 years and pays $3200 for max coverage, that's considered "reasonable" as he has a clean record... he started at $4500. I don't dare to ride with a friend who isn't covered.
I know, it's messed up. Just cause we're seen as young, we're pre-judged as reckless drivers... until 25. And that's bikes we're speaking of... heh, I don't own my own car and am still insured under my dad as a "second driver" since having my own car and insurance is too far off of a dent for my wallet. #mostlybusing
It's more of a turn on for me but I was bought up around bikers from mc clubs, my uncle built his bike from a frame and so did my dad, so it's always been an interest in a way. It's the irresponsible bikers that are a turn off, racing in the streets, or doing tricks, putting themselves and other people in danger.
I don't really care for that type stuff. The people I know who ride two-wheelers seem to be so obsessed with the sport, obviously not all are. But there is just something that turns me off about those guys. I can't really explain it.

I think the vast majority of girls really don't give a damn. Some girls like it, though it really doesn't make a difference in the end. Some hate it, good riddance as far as I'm concerned.
Ride for you and let the girls think what they want.
And on a side note, holy shit are there some buzzkills around here.
They usually look like this:

A preference for certain brand of bikes makes some one a fag? Fuck off
I personally like em I've been wanting to learn how to ride one for a while and have always wanted to own a Harley Davidson XA Military Motorcycle.

Girls are not as enamored by bikes as guys are. That said they tend to see riders as rugged individuals - the alpha bad-boy types that are going their own way. So they're more into the potential of the rider than the bike.
Girls like guys that do manly fun stuff. :)
They're hot (The young riders not the old ones), for some reason I just find it attractive when guys have a sense of control and aren't afraid to take risks whether in life or on the road
Racist
Arrogant
They think the road belongs to them and show little to no regard for everyone including themselves safety.
They harass people with their loud engines.
If you want to do tricks and rev your engine so loudly to show off go to a race track.
The old dudes on Harley are the racist ones then there are the douchebags who ride sports bikes who think public roads are there personal race track and do tricks like wheelys etc. I've seen lots of videos of douchebags like this who do tricks in the middle of traffic or ride so fast that they cause an accident so bad that they die or end up with a life changing injury plus these douchebags take up both lanes to provoke cars behind them and then when someone tries to overtake them they get salty and try to harass the driver.
When they are a group of bikers.
Ok -
1 - How does owning a bike make you racist?
2 - The idiots are a small minority, most riders have the sense to do that when there's no one else around
3 - I'll ride a quiet bike when people learn to open their eyes when they drive
its HOT, I love motorbikes and riding behind the guy with my arms around him and the adrenaline rush it gives when speeding up :)
I hate motorcycles because they're dangerous and so I in part subconsciously correlate the riders with stupidity
I know doctors, lawyers, engineers who ride. So are you saying they're stupid?
You do risky things everyday without realizing it.
So don't go outside. You realize how much you are risking just by going outside? Stay at home all day everyday and you'll never risk anything.
You could say the same for automobile drivers. You drive a car, yes? Can you say you haven't made one risky mistake that could've put your life in danger? Probably not. Riders are made more aware of their surroundings just by riding, it has been proven to make them better drivers as well.
I own and ride a street bike so I don't care its not a turn off or a turn on its just a vehicle
Holding his chest, belly or crotch while you're sitting in the back with your boobs pressed against his back 😍
I love motorcycles, I was afraid at first, but now they bring great memories of one of the best friends I have ever had... 😊
Stupid and annoying. They always whine blaming drivers of other cars for not seeing them and causing a wreck, but 99.999% of the time it is their own fault.
No, people jut simply don't watch for bikes
It goes both ways. There are the motorcyclists that follow the rules of the road and then there are the ones who weave in and out of traffic. If you are being reckless, you are probably going to cause an accident eventually.
@WalterBlack I never hear much complaining when we're doing things we know are risky - ie weaving through traffic.
It's when I'm doing nothing K shouldn't be and some hsithead pulls out right in front of me because they couldn't be bothered to look, then I get mad
No, many drivers are fucktards who don't look before changing lanes
They all like to show their ass while driving too fast, weaving through traffic, and cutting people off. Often times they will even go as far as to share lanes. Most motorcycle accidents are their own fault. Ever heard of the dragon that goes through tn and nc? They actually have a site up explaining to morons how to actually drive it bc people are so dumb and die there daily. Not too mention they are loud and sound like shit. If they didn't cause an insane amount of wrecks, my thoughts might be different, but that is just the sad truth. So yes they are huge turn offs.
Some are stupid, but to say most are their fault is wrong. Most drivers are stupid.
Yep. It is simply impossible to understand the stupidity of drivers until you have been on a bike.
@Redstang88 You don't even need to ride, most drivers merge without thinking.
True, but it gives a whole new perspective.
@Redstang88 A big problem is, a LOT of motorcyclists are reckless on the road and get into accidents because of that. I love motorcycles so they're definitely not a turn-off for me.
Depend which kind it's, I think it's generally cool though
lame. Incredibly obnoxious.

I'm probably coming off like no fun, but honestly- kinda in the same ballpark? Like obviously, I'm not aware of how Ferraris might have amazing engines and whatnot as I know jackshit about that. From an outside perspective, they might be good quality cars but completely impractical. You might be able to accel or whatever super fast but.. what does that really achieve assuming you live in a typical suburban/metropolitan area? (other than getting you a load of tickets and risking your life)
Nah I totally get it, your opinions are consistent so you know exactly how you feel and that helps. And yeah I totally agree that owning a Ferrari in a place like Boston (I've seen several) is completely stupid with the amount of traffic and people bumping into other cars when trying to park lol. I get it, was just wondering about more specifics about how you feel
Most things in life are impractical. If we lived life in order to be the most practical we would be bored constantly.
@StickStickity13 true. Maybe if you ask questions about other impractical things, I'll most certainly leave a response on those as well. :)
I didn't ask this question lol
@StickStickity13 yet you felt the need to point out the obvious. Not OP.
I'm just pointing out a flaw in your logic.
@StickStickity13
I never said motorcycles of any kind are the only thing that is impractical though?
" I'm not aware of how Ferraris might have amazing engines and whatnot as I know jackshit about that. From an outside perspective, they might be good quality cars but completely impractical."
Sure, they are impractical, but so is most modern day stuff.
@StickStickity13 true.
@StickStickity13 cool. make a post about that rather than spamming my own.
This is a public forum, block me if you don't like it.
@StickStickity13 unfortunately you'll still be able to post on this question and continuing annoying the fuck out of OP. Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do to do away with vermin posters like yourself.
You are such a spoiled little brat lol. You're a depressing person.
@StickStickity13 LOOOOOOOL I love how you were able to deduce that not only am I a spoiled brat, but also a depressing person. Off of nothing but my pointing out how impractical/obnoxious motorcycles are.
Well of course, you have nothing positive to say.
@StickStickity13 likewise
personally a turn on, and i want to get one too, but if its because they're part of a gang or something then definitely a turn off
I'm more of a sports bike fan than a Harley or anything.
Harleys and choppers are for douch bags asking for attention trying to look cool
I can tell you like choppers
😆😆😆😆
I like all bikes, I ride a CBR too, but my Harley is my favorite. Loud as fuck, comfortable as hell, idles like a damn lion, nimble enough to stay interesting through the curves, and on top of that, great gas milage for a 1200. My next bike will probably be a dual sport, but I believe that Harley will still stay my favorite.
That's the douchy obvious attention seeking part about it being loud as fuck. Like look over here let me rev my engine and be cool. The other types of bikes are cool tho
You understand why bikes are made loud, right? To make our presence known to cars that would otherwise possibly be oblivious. For example, say you are on the highway in a BMW and you decide to pull the superdouche move and change lanes rapidly with no turn signal and my front tire at your rear quarter panel. I'll instantly see it, twist to full throttle and scream up beside you. Suddenly my presence is known, I'm safe, and I can continue to exist. I'll give another to you. Say you're sitting at a red light and you see the lane beside you has less cars in it and you want to be in it to get ahead faster all without checking your mirrors. Here I come pulling up to the stop light in that lane downshifting my Harley to 4k rpm to come to a stop. You hear me pulling up, you know there's a bike around so you look for it before you do anything. I can give you two vivid examples of times that my pipes saved my ass at age 21.
It's disturbing the peace and obnoxiously loud if you want to say "loud pipes save lives" just upgrade your horn instead or dont even ride. that way your only loud when you need to like everyone else. Stick with Japanese bikes or a Ducati they're bad ass and don't irritate pedestrians
I always thought motorcycles were too loud and scary..
I'm more neutral on that.
But I'd never ride bitch ever.
hot hot hot. I dont know anything about them so i dont really care for type. Although the ones made by BMW are stunning for sure. I've always wanted to ride one myself
I don't mind, you do you.
I personally am scared of sitting on one so yeah
I do not care about what other guys do. Not into guys, but motorcycles are badass
