People are answering this like context doesn't play any role. Almost invariably, if the man has not invested anything into a relationship with you and he approaches you telling you that you're pretty, cute, beautiful, or any variation thereof, he is just trying to purchase you with nice words. However, if you have a long-standing relationship with him, the meanings begin to vary. Again, it all comes down to context. Is it in person? On the phone? Internet? Text message? What was the tone? What is the setting? What kind of history do you have together? It's foolish to say "Oh beautiful means this and cute means that," or to expect the answer to be that simple. Beautiful can mean anything from 'he just wants in your pants' to 'he actually finds you to be breathtaking - mind, body, and soul.' Cute can mean 'I don't want to hurt your feelings and tell you that you're ugly' or it could mean 'my god, you just do it for me and it's unexplainable.' Don't make the mistake of getting hung up on what words one person said to you one time. Look at how they treat you time and again and you will begin to be able to piece together what they actually mean when they say you are beautiful.
So here's how I personally use them, and this does NOT mean all guys do...
Beautiful: You're quite the looker and I'd love to have sex with you, just nice raw sex appeal. Pretty: ... Okay so I never actually hear grown men using this word... moving on. Cute: My personal top tier. I'd prefer a cute girl over a hot one any day. A cute girl is just absolutely adorable, I can't help but smile when I'm around her, she's always making me laugh, etc. Women may dislike being cute, but cute girls are so damn lovable and they're the ones guys like me actually want real relationships with. Not the "Beautiful" women covered in makeup trying to look like they're ready to bed the next guy who buys them a drink, but just a natural youthful spirit and beauty.
I have been called beautiful once by a guy but mainly cute :( sometimes I am disappointed that I have mainly been called cute :( I usually call little children cute. just not a MAJOR fan of that term.

I'm trying to figure this out as well, trust me, lol, and I'm 17 ( my age is wrong haha). I think pretty and beautiful are better compliments than cute, although I like being called cute, which happens to me often. But to me you are good looking and pretty!
They don't really mean different things, per say, it's just different for every guy. I might call you cute while another calls you beautiful we both mean the same thing but beautiful is just used by the more confident guys as it is a riskier way of telling someone she's cute
@BlueBloodBoi Good point. I feel like being called beautiful is more of a risky thing to say, while cute is on the safe side. Still waiting for the day a guy calls me cute AND/OR beautiful to my face, lol.
If they only say cute then they don't think you're unattractive, just that you haven't completely matured yet, it's a very good thing actually. But it depends on the body language and situation behind it
I think of it as you might do something/act cute, look pretty and be a beautiful person. So maybe you can be all three? 😊 I would maybe use cute to describe how someone looks if I liked them, but they weren't "traditionally pretty" if that makes sense.
In my opinion, pretty is just generally attractive. Beautiful is either very attractive or just a great person. Cute is similar to pretty, but more huggable and snuggle-able. The person in picture is pretty, and seems like they could have a beautiful personality.
to me, you are all three: pretty, beautiful and cute - which is how i feel about people i find attractive. i think you can be all 3 and it might depend on the mood or situation on which one i use.
It means you are pretty or beautiful or cute. Seriously, men aren't complicated and deep. We keep things simple. Its women who like to over-analyze and find other meanings in the things we say.

Well, he's complimenting you. Well, the words don't have different meanings but, a guys intention could be different. So, you should observe their behaviour with you and, try to figure their intentions.

Everything depends on beautiful curves and beautiful face. Most girls have something missing. So guys who say that such girls are beautiful are fools and liars. Less than 10 of the girls deserve to be called beautiful.
Depends on the person... if he is really nice n gentle then he truly means this n compliment is genuine... Else if he is playboy sort of guy then he is just flirting tats all
pretty= attractive usually sexual but not always implying personal attraction cute= attractive not always sexual beautiful = attractive and respectable. that my book at least
