Why do some guys paint one of their nails?

I have noticed a few instances like Arin Hanson (from GameGrumps) and Penn Jillette (a magician from Pen &Teller), and have no idea what it stands for.

I haven't noticed it but i googled it and it's for something called Polished Man where men paint only one of their nails to represent the 1 in 5 children that will be victims of sexual assualt

It's some kinda charity thing and the nails are to raise awareness
