Are skirts more comfortable than jeans?

It appears there's a clear comfort advantage skirts have over jeans...why aren't skirts more popular with girls?

I used to be in my high school marching band. We had to wear kilts for it was our uniform. At first I didn't want to wear it but once I put it on I fell in love. Not necessarily with the kilt, but with the feeing of being free. I'd go out and buy skirts to wear when it's hot and a breeze would feel nice but I would get all these looks from people. The worst part is that even women fighting for equal right have not accepted the fact that I like to wear skirts cuz they are comfortable. Ummm... excuse me, you're the one who wants men and women to be equal so why you complaining that I'm in a skirt

I gotta say, I've cross dressed for Halloween, and I like the freedom a skirt gives. No more of that damned cloth chaffing against my skin. been tempted by kilts in the past, but they're always super expensive

I second that. kilts are ugly looking, the fabric is not my style (comfort) and guys would look better wearing floor length skirts

I myself find pants just so more comfortable in pants. I never wear jeans, though haha. Skirts for me are occasional, and I like ALWAYS have to wear leggings or stockings underneath. Even shorts just weird me out. I'm not conservative or anything, I just really dislike my legs and I doubt anyone is going to find them more attractive than I do in a skirt :/

I find jeans and skirts both comfortable. I enjoy wearing both, but jeans tend to be more practical, like if the weather is cold, and you don't have to worry about your skirt blowing up in the wind, or someone trying to sneak a peek when you bend over.

Well, even longer skirts have the potential to blow up in the wind, depending on the style, and I don't really like the style of ankle-length skirts.

Or I could just wear pants. Why does it matter?

They can be hard to sit in and wear without having to keep mind of how your legs are positioned. I don't typically wear jeans though. I find jeans very uncomfortable. But I would have to say for me personally, skirts are more comfortable.

Jeans are the best. Ever. Skirts are kinda annoying, cause you can't even sit properly without the wind blowing on you. Also, you never know who's gonna try to look down your skirt when you bend over, and I'm not a pantyhose girl, do I can't really wear skirts when the weather is cold.

Jeans are far more comfortable than Skirts. I had to wear one everyday for School during Secondary school, and I hated the exposed feeling it gave me.

Also, me and my friends play fight sometimes, and occasionally we do jump around, etc, and I don't want to have to worry about if I'm flashing someone, because a lot of my friends are guys so it would be awkward if I flashed them by accident.

Why would it matter if you flash them by accident? I'm sure you don't worry about guys looking when you're in a bikini. There's not much of a difference between bikinis and panties

I hate pants! you'll hardly ever find me in a pair. I live in Cali though so I have to advantage of not having to wear pants even in the winter time. If I'm sitting at home I'll rock a pair of short shorts but at school its all dresses, skirts, and my cheer uniform :) death to pants!

Skirts are so much more fun, comfortable, and stylish! I guess it just requires more maintenance. Shave your legs, put on stockings, wear nice shoes, can't wear sneakers or else it looks ridiculous. ... I think the work is worth it. =)

Good for you! Hadn't thought of the "maintenance" aspect of the skirt life or the accessory dilemma, but girls deal with most of those things anyway. Best answer!

oh yah I think , and in the summer/spring it's easier to wear than jeans. because when you sweat you know. the skirt and airiate the sweat out unlike the jeans! I love wearing dresses and skirts in the summer and spring time when it's warm out.

YES THEY ARE. Haha that's why I like wearing them. It's like going around pantsless, essentially. (which, needless to say is awesome in the summer, but not so much in the winter)

Jeans aren't uncomfortable, though, if you get the right ones.

skirts are far more comfortable but for me its not the medium length or short. for me its the long wide ones. why? I like how they feel and my legs won't show

skirts are great for warm or excessive hot weather. They're comfortable to wear so are jeans but jeans can be warn almost all the time and can be the most comfortable

i love jeggings. :) especially abercrombie ones. but I like skirts too, but jeans/jeggings are more comfortable to me.

Skirts are just way too high maintenance. It's too cold to wear them in the winter even with tights underneath and in the summer you always have to wear spandex underneath in case the wind blows it up. Also they are very annoying when sitting down. Jeans are so much more practical. I love wearing jeans. :)

I can't think of anything you can do in jeans you can't do in a skirt unless you're riding a motorcycle or doing sports, but heck, even lacrosse girls wear skirts so I don't know about that...

Why isn't the freedom of unrestrained movement liberating? Girls often describe their "exposure", but as a guy, it would seem a slightly-below-the-knee skirt would solve the prudish problem nicely? How are skirts tedious to you?
