im guilty of this. after you have two slabs of muscle that can start bending the bar at the bench press, you get really proud. and when you see people looking at the sculpture you've crafted, you just do it. its ridiculous and i have no excuse.

It could be a medical condition. Muscle cramps, or -worse- spastic contractions. The latter may result from brain damage.
But it's not transferable - don't be worried.
