What does it mean when a guy puts his arm around your shoulders?

Okay me and my boyfriend have been dating for a little over a month now and we usually just hold hands and hug, but lately he has started put his arm around my shoulder and it's a little weird. I don't know why he just started doing it. And don't guys usually put their arms around a girls waist if he likes her? Also we've only kissed once. Sometimes I feel like he doesn't like me as much as he says he does.
