Is magic lame and stupid?

Call me crazy, but I'm the kind of person that enjoys entertianing people. I like putting on a show and making others laugh and smile. I do that partly by doing magic tricks and illusions. For the most part, the people I do it for, love it, and I've done it for countless people. I've been practicing magic since I was about 7, I'm 24 now. It's a hobby of mine.

There's this one girl I know, find really attractive and want to ask out. She's kinda one of those rocker types, but she thinks it's gay and really lame that I do magic. she always insults me and says hurtful things to me about it, scoffing, rolling her eyes, ect. Is she right? is magic lame?

I always thought it was lame, yeah. Basically, it's a solo skill. You practice and practice in isolation, in your bedroom perhaps, for days, weeks, months, years all to get the fingers to move a certain way and learn how to deceive.

These aren't particularly useful skills in social situations or in dating. Though dexterous fingers might have been useful in your teenage years, when fingering a girl is about as far as you'll get. Except if you're heavily in to magic, you probably weren't going to many parties and meeting a lot of girls.

Doing what you love is never lame and stupid. Moreover, many (most?) girls are attracted to passion, dedication, and discipline.

Your rocker chick, however, is a straight asshole. As a rule, don't date the girl who belittles your lifelong passion. In fact, avoid hurtful, insulting people generally, in life.

mmmm let me see how can I answer this one...its only stupid to those who absolutely find it uninteresting...and those who find it lame are the people who really don't like it because its nothing that they will ever try... do you kinda get it?

I think its pretty cool. I like trying to figure out how they are doing it or actually see them do their tricks instead of being captured by their misdirection methods. Its entertaining to me. If that girl is insulting you for having an innocent hobby, she's a bitch, plain and simple.

Frankly, I don't think magic itself is bad - it's just that many of the well known magicians in the media are scumbags
