Why do girls think bad of guys who go to the gym?

why can't a guy have an hour or hour and a half to himself 3-4 times a week to go to the gym? how is that self absorbed?

I've never heard of people caring if you went to the gym either. Forget about them because to be blunt they're probably fat and hating on you lol. I have no problem with fat/ overweight people and I'm not the skinniest person but when people hate on others a lot of the time its due to their own insecurities.

Making sure you're in good health or going because you think it will make you look good isn't self absorbed at all

Some guys ARE self-absorbed about it, but many just do it because it feels good. It depends on your motives... If you go to the gym to buff up so you can look at yourself flexing in the mirror all the time, that's what us girls don't like. :P Doing it for your health (or endorphins) is different.

You're right. I've been guilty of thinking like that at times. I mean it's awesome if they're there for their health or stress relief. But some cluster in groups and are intimidating...not your fault I know. And most don't do cardio which I don't understand...just focus on lifting. Just saying. Out of curiousity: do you smile and stuff at the gym? If not, is it because you're just trying to remain focused on your workouts? Thanks!

Not me, I workout almost everyday for at least an hour. On the other hand, a friend of mine works out for 8 hrs everyday. In this case, I'd think he's too self absorbed.

working out is hot! but don't get too obsessed with appearances/don't get too stacked so you look like a giant muscle with a head on top/don't put the gym before your girlfriend :)

yeah I totally understand that, I don't mean that you should spend every single second of the day with your girlfriend and have no time for yourself. I mean, say if she wants to go out for a romantic meal, or wants to cook for you, don't turn her down because you want to go to the gym?

During winter break, my ex put the gym before me. I thought he would want to spend more time with me. I was silly for thinking that, but I spoke to my homeboy and a guy doesn't necessarily have to put anyone before anything or vice versa. He just has to compromise. Say the girl wants to see him, but he wants to go to the gym. He can say, "Baby, let's chill for a bit before the gym or after."
