I wouldn't know if there's many phenotypic differences, I've seen Blonde female Spaniards as well, like attracts like really I mean there's Spanish speaking South Americans who can fall in love with Brazilians if they so much as build the chemistry and live close by. I know Spanish isn't easy to translate with English but it seems you and him are speaking just fine and he sees you as beautiful as his women as well, pretty much you're not foreign, you're familiar but different in ways beside looks.
