Yes, when I am interested in a women I always text her on the next day. But usually just text her "good morning I hope you have a good day." Obviously if I texted her then that means I was think of her.

Just to go straight to "thinking about you", can come off as too forward or creepy... all depends on how good the previous evening was.

Now if I text her good morning and she doesn't respond then I assume the previous evening wasn't as nice for her, or she is playing games. But I don't text her again until she responds to me last text. By the end of the second date if she is not responding to texts then move on.
