What does it mean when a friend grabs your knee?

Sometimes during a conversation, or just in general, my friends would grab my knee (when we are both seated). I was confused about what that means and I don't think it is homo at all, it's just not something I do. I am assuming that is how someone tries to get your attention.

I have a handful of "good ole boys" friends that do that. Definitely a Southern thing where I'm from.

Dafaq... that means something i cannot explain because none of my friends of my whole life... grabbed my knee for a random reason.
