I haven't said those exact words. But I've said thier equivalent to a woman who was an alcoholic. And it was because every time I tried to help her she used it as an opportunity to hurt me. You could say I said it hurt her back but that is absolutely not true. I had one last card to play and that was either she cleaned up or I was no longer going to stay in her life. Because she is a train wreck and I wasn't going to watch this anymore, it isn't cute!
I hope she gets better. But I don't think she will.
So not everyone that would say such a thing has malicious intent.
