It can be due to any number of things.

Maybe he is considerate and wants to know what are your dietary restrictions (don't confuse with allergies or intolerances, be it a restrictive diet or avoiding trauma foods).

Maybe he wants to know which price bracket you like to eat at.

Maybe both, maybe neither, maybe something else.

You can always ask him why is he asking those questions ;).
