He’s saying we are friends BUT…?

It’s an LDR where he says we are just friends. He also tells me often how much he cares deeply for me and how much I mean to him, doesn’t want me with anyone else (sexually), texts all day and Facetimes me all night til we fall asleep. Says he needs to control his feelings and has emotionally vented how he needs me by his side and can’t be without me.
I have never dated anyone 20 years younger than me before and although he did let me know he catches feelings fast he’s insistent we are just friends, special friends, friends with benefits.
I’m inclined to believe that’s all he sees me as but the jealousy and taking all my time scream he’s emotionally invested.

How do I decipher this?

Don't have any expectations, if there is any already grown or growing kill it. Accept the reality that it's not possible and you can live with this reality. I know it's not going to be easy it's going to be very painful. But this is how a life is.
