It's to boost their ego and maintain a certain image in the eyes of others; particularly other men, I've found. Like a pissing contest to seem like an 'alpha male' and yes, cool amongst other men.
Men who do this are the equivalent of girls who brag about how much male attention they get. It's usually an insecurity thing- they aren't that secure in themselves so 'fill up their cup' so to speak, with female attention and sex.
We as humans are hierarchical, so we brag to convince others that we are of high status and win social approval.
There are men who sleep around a lot but mostly keep it to themselves. That's usually because of a different reason.
He also claimed i am a narcissist just because i agreed with one comment a lady gave me who was a customer at my shop about me looking like a model and he said that people may not even mean what they say negative or positive. It felt like he was insecure
And he said "it seems like all the best things have been said to you." As if he was jealous

I think it is pretty much a double-standard. If it was a woman who said that, she would get called a slut or an attention seeker. On the other hand, some men are not ashamed of being pretty much open about it. Regardless of the reality of this statement given above, I would think that he was a person with low morals who thought getting laid was some kind of an achievement.

Any guy who claims he has slept with a lot of women, simply, hasn't.
It's why I stopped hanging around with groups of guys in bars. They get together, get boisterous. Testosterone flies and before you know it, they have claimed to have slept with 700 women between them. In reality, they've had wet dreams about 695 of them and are simply retelling their dreams to express their false masculinity.
I know a guy who claimed he had slept with over 16 girls by the time he was 19. I found out of his later wife, he cried the first time they tried sex as he had never done it before.

They sound gross. If a guy is bragging like that, all I see and hear is a walking, talking, giant STD with neon lights screaming STAY AWAY... It's an immediate turn off. A lot of partners is nothing to brag about for anyone. It happens sometimes, and they don't need to be ashamed, but it's not great either.
Low standards exactly and he never once complimented my appearance he just said "oh you don't seem unattractive" that's all.

But, since you are in a relationship, you really shouldn't be hanging around those kinds of guys because he will likely eventually try to get with you and it could possibly cause you problems in the future. My advice would be to just avoid him altogether if possible.

I used to work with a guy who was short and not particularly handsome, and he used to talk about getting a lot of p*ssy. But then I went out with him when we were on the road in another city, and all the clubs he had raved about were either closed or nearly empty, so I'm not sure how realistic he was.
