Like are guys really that noble that they have those type of feelings for women, the way they do in books and movies

I think people misrepresent men.
Most men have an intrinsic willingness to sacrifice themselves. Whether it is a product of our society or evolution could be argued but you would be hard pressed to find a guy who hasn't fantasized about it or wouldn't throw their life away for someone they cherish.

I'd go so far as to say that it isn't rare. Most men would. That doesn't mean we will impose on you and your life unasked.

But.. heck was it Heroes? I fail to remember which little series it was. Gist of it was that everyone, men, women, so on, have the ability to be both heroes and villains. What we become is mostly circumstance. I can vibe with that. Depending on situation I could end up a saint, a monster, nobody, success story, or of course a knight in shining armour. Figurative or not.

Responding to your update; yes, most books and movies are a lie and are made solely to prey on the feelings and emotions of their target audiences. As a filmmaker who graduated with a bachelor's degree in film and TV, this is a basic thing we're all taught i. e nothing you see on TV is real. It's a concept brought to life and nothing more (unless of course it's a documentary which we aren't talking about here).

Anyhoo, it also comes down to what your definition of a "knight in shining armor" is. If you want your man to devote his entire existence to pleasing you, sacrificing his own dreams, aspirations and goals just for your pleasure, that's just selfish and horrible, so there you go.

Of course. It's the modern feminist that has ruined relationships even for the good girls. Now a guy won't even approach a girl because he doesn't trust their nature. It's up to the girls with traditional values to throw one tradition out the window; that of the man making the first move. Tell him what your family values are up front but make sure he understands that you aren't rushing into marriage and that you just want him to know up front what to expect before he proposes.

As described in the movies? Nope. Disney lied. Your kindest men are probably physically the most unattractive or socially awkward. If they happen to become successful and/or attractive as they get older they probably end up with a soured view on women. Guys who were always attractive rarely settle down.

Books and movies are just one person's imaginative opinion of how they want something to be. People follow movies as real life because it's job is to attract your attention. So even of you found what you think you want, it's not going to be what you think

Legions of men put on their armor and do battle everyday. The thing is the plate male armor is now work boots, hardhats, safety vests and other PPE.

You see these men everyday, by the hundreds, but they are invisible to you.
