Gay hairdressers are a cliche. But it's not always the case.

I knew three brothers when I was growing up. They lived on my street. They were as far from being gay as you can get. One of them went to cosmetology school after high school and became a barber/hairdresser. The guy was macho af. Definitely not gay. Babes were all over him. The other two brothers probably wound up either dead or in prison.

My wife is a hair stylist. She rents a private room in a salon that is owned buy a married guy. The salon had belonged to his mom who was a hair stylist. He went to cosmetology school and worked there with her for years before she retired. When his mom passed away, he inherited the salon free and clear and still works there.

Between doing hair and renting space in the salon to other stylists, he makes good money.

He and my wife do both men's and women's hair.

Years ago, my wife was the west coast manager for Paul Mitchel, a Scottish American hairstylist and co-founder of John Paul Mitchell Systems, a company that sells hair care products and also runs hairdressing schools.
Mitchell married Jolina Zandueta Wyrzykowski, an American fashion model and actress.

So I don't think anything weird about a guy being a hair stylist.

Well largely I wouldn't think about him, because why would I ever care, but I'd assume he's homosexual because every male hair dresser i've ever known was also homosexual.
