Guy I use to talk to likes my friends random instagram stories. Is he doing this to get a reaction out of me?

Long story short but I use to talk to this particular guy 6 years ago during my undergrad. We had a lot of chemistry, but ended up fizzing out at the “talking” stage. A few weeks ago my best friend followed him and reposted a story of mine that he liked. A few weeks later I decided to finally follow him on instagram and he did end up following me back. Currently, he hasn’t spoken to me or liked anything of mine. He occasionally watches some of my instagram stories, but that’s it. However today he liked a random story of my best friends. I’m assuming he knows that we’re good friends because I’ve been in her story multiple times and she’s a stranger to him (she didn’t go to the same university as us)…so I’m wondering whether he interested in my friend or is he trying to make me jealous.

I don’t understand why you guys don’t talk on the phone and text why do you have to play this kind of games on social media on liking stories and not liking stories if you’re serious about each other you should make the move both of you and make things happen I hear this kind of stories every day on the site about liking stories, and not liking stories that sounds like a new guy that doesn’t sound like an old guy that you’ve known
