Signs a guy has a crush vs. Wants just attention/ego boost?

Hi guys, looking for an insight in a man's mind: what are the signs of a guy being genuinely attracted to you and playing with your head (to keep you hooked) vs. Him wanting only ego boost.


Fyi: Due to circumstances between us, it's not possible for him to ask me out or vice versa. I am simply looking for some sort of understanding/clarity.

From what it sounds like, you’re being manipulated either way, but in a general sense of a real crush vs. an ego boost, it’s usually determined how long a guy likes you. At the gym for example. If you’re a hot girl, most men there will see you as an ego boost to get with you. If you ignore the advances from these men, they will in turn generally dislike you fast or ignore you because you bruised their ego.. whereas a guy who might actually like the girl won’t be as swayed by “rejection” and will still always secretly like the girl, which those guys probably also still secretly like the girl too, but they’re moving with their egos first. So both guys like the girls but one is moving on the basis of sleeping with her for her physicality and what they perceive her to be, and the other she’s just generally their type. Its way harder to move on from someone who’s actually your type then someone who you’d feel accomplished sleeping with.
