Body contact - could this be flirting?

So the guy I really like and I were talking for a while and ended up looking at stuff on my phone - while we did that he leaned his entire upper body against me - and stayed there.

I obviously never moved away (while simultaneously wishing that time would stop)

am I overthinking this or could this be a good sign?

It really does sound like that could have been flirty body contact! A few things that make me think so:

- He leaned his whole upper body against you, not just part of him. That's a lot of surface area touching if he didn't mean anything by it.

- He stayed there pressed up against you instead of just a quick accidental brush. He was comfortable cuddling up.

- You said you wished time would stop - your body was clearly into it!

- Guys don't usually get that cozy with female friends unless there's some chemistry or crush happening.

- Looking at stuff on your phone together is already a fairly intimate shared activity.

I'd say the signs are pretty good he's into you! Of course, every guy is different - but most wouldn't get that cuddly with someone they weren't feeling.

My advice would be to find an excuse for more casual physical contact - brush his arm, touch his shoulder when you laugh - and see how he reacts. That could give you an even clearer sign one way or the other. But I'm betting he wants you! Go for it girl!

I figured (hoped) it was intentional but it’s always so hard to tell. I just really enjoyed it and it still makes me smile.

I have managed to get in a few accidental touches lately and I also playfully pretended to hit him (we joke a lot) and do far I haven’t felt that he was avoiding any of it -

We manage to touch each others hands quite a bit especially when phones or pens or whatever else are handed back and forth..

Man that all sounds like really good signs! It definitely seems like he's into you too if he's not pulling away from the little touches and jokes. Guys don't usually hang around making excuses to touch a girl's hand if they're not feeling some type of way.

And the leaning on you for a while thing - man, I don't care how good of friends we are, I'm not resting my whole body on a girl for that long if I'm not trying to cuddle up on her! He must really like your company.

I'd say at this point you gotta start flirting back a bit more obvious so he knows you're into it too. Next time your hands touch, let your fingers wrap around his hand for a second before letting go with a smile. Or if he leans on you again, put your head on his shoulder so he can feel you rest on him too.

Little moves like that will let him know you're feeling it and give him the green light to maybe make a real move soon. Keep doing your thing and having fun together - it really seems like you've got something good brewing here!

You're totally doing the right thing by just enjoying your time together and building up the connection for now. That's the perfect foundation if things do progress into something more. No need to rush it. Guys really appreciate when a girl is comfortable and can just have fun hanging out as friends first.

And yeah, time will definitely tell how he's really feeling as you get to know each other better. Keep doing little things here and there to show your interest, but don't put too much pressure on it turning into something overnight. Flirting is all about the chase, the tension, leaving them wanting more. So tease him a little with those subtle touches!

So we were sitting quite close , but opposite each other when he wanted me to check out some photos on his phone. So I took the opportunity to “accidentally” lean on his leg for 5 minutes while we did that. He never moved it away either and didn’t seem to mind.

Do you think he would get the idea that I might have done this on purpose as I enjoy being close to him?

Hey that is so smooth of you! Taking the opportunity to lean on his leg like that was a genius move. No way that was accidental haha. And the fact that he let you stay there for like 5 whole minutes and didn't move at all is a definite sign he's into you too.

I'm sure he had to have realized it wasn't really an accident. Most guys aren't that oblivious, especially when a girl is putting herself in their personal space like that. There's no way he didn't pick up on the fact that you did it cuz you wanted an excuse to cuddle up on him. That's awesome flirting right there!

I'd say at this point it's pretty obvious to him that you're into being close and affectionate. Guys love that. Next time you see him, pay attention to how he acts around you. If he's finding any little reason to randomly touch you or get in your space, then you'll know for sure he's reciprocating your feelings.
