Was member of FGBMFI for several years before I emigrated
I’m not familiar with that one. Please elaborate.
Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International. Founded by Demos Shakarian in the late 40s I think. Charismatic men's Christian group. All political backgrounds welcome, just check your assumptions at the door.
At the time it wasn't known for any particular political affiliation. Not been involved since I left the UK in 2003.
I used to belong to a men's rights group a few years back. It was a lot of fun but also a bit weird.
Which?
It's been a long time and I was just trying to recall the name of it and I can't. It was fairly prominent in Los Angeles and on the west coast for a while and then and then like most of these organizations kind of died out. That being said, if you were a member of any of these organizations in my area, did you ever know Mark Angelucci?
I don't think so. Political parties and churches all had mixed genders
And other associations. It was never male only in any I was of.
No because I actually like girls, having girls that are friends as part of your group makes for better more random conversations.
Yes stuff like our Mountain biking group is all guys, but or archery club is mixed.
also if you took two old guys from one of the groups there and shoved them in with a 18-25 group, it would, in most cases be a bit crap.
Most men who are involved in men’s groups like women’s a great deal. That’s not even remotely the point.
And your proof is?
It is very much to the point,
Well, I was a Boy Scout. I was in the military, there are women in it but anyone of them will tell you how much of a boy's club it is, same with the VFW. Now, was I ever in one of those "Iron John" groups where we went out in the woods, got naked, smeared mud on ourselves and hugged each other a cried because daddy never said he loved us? No, I was not.
How do you seem to know so much about groups you’ve never been involved in?
I read the book "Iron John" when it came out. That's what was going on at the time. It was a short lived fad, I don't think it's happening much anymore.
I do think it's good for men and women to have time alone with their peers, but it seems women are threatened my men with no women around.
