Guys if you always respond to a girl, is it out of courtesy or you like her?

A guy that I like, who said he’s not looking for a relationship but is attracted to me said he still loves spending time with me. We decided not to hookup because I don’t want that. Question is, generally when I text people or they text me, I generally always am the last person to message. I don't know why but I can’t keep people hanging with a last message.
This guy always responds to my messages even the dead ended ones, while his messages are also dead ended it’s like we are competing on who gets to end the chat. And sometimes he replies to my messages in the morning which is something I used to do when I wanted to drag a conversation to the next day. I don’t do that with him but it looks like he does. The messages aren’t overly interesting or interactive but he always responds. I wanna know what guys think? Cause I’d probably do that only for people I like but I’m a girl and we can be delusional sometimes lol

Maybe he's just not good at carrying conversations? Yeah, I'm an expert at responding to every text out of courtesy, but that usually means I'm not interested in talking more. But I'm sure someone out there is trying to talk to me more and wondering if I just suck at conversation or I'm not that interested in talking more. Probably a family member of mine...

If a girl initiates and throws herself at a guy he will MOST LIKELY be initially polite enough to provide a reply, but if you keep pushing yourself on him and he's not interested you'll get to whine about the "ghosting" thing.

You're just friends based on what you described, but you seem to be fishing for more. So what's YOUR deal? He just seems to want to be friends.

He’s doing it because he’s going to keep exercising his chances on sleeping with you. Kind of like how you are still curious about him because he keeps persisting.

I mean he could just be responding cause ya know ghosting is bad.
But yeah there is also the want for you to change your mind about not hooking up.

Some do it for politeness, it depend on the person, I think if he do it to be nice then he would surely ghost you after some time.

To be polite, it's more polite to respond this than not respond

I always respond. It's a courtesy thing that I developed because I really freakin hate it when people leave me on "read."
