Why did he block me back?

He texted me that he no longer wanted to see me and there was a personality difference and we just weren’t “clicking” (which I think is total crap but whatever)

so I responded politely and maturely back and said “hey thanks for the honesty, I kinda felt the same but wanted to see if my feelings changed. Thank you for showing me some cool things!”
he replied back “yeah thanks for putting in the effort. Hey you can keep the coffee mug. I’ve got a couple of them”

I ignored his text and just blocked him in Instagram, as childish as it sounds but then I found out he blocked me back (literally within 5 minutes after I blocked him) so he must have checked to see if I blocked him after he texted me.

I just don’t know why he even cared to begin with? He was the one that ended things with me…

He was probably checking to see if you read or responded to his offer and saw you’d blocked him, which looked very fake on your end because you made it seem like you were genuinely ok with things ending when you weren’t. No offense but I would’ve blocked you back too if I were him.

Look, there is nothing mature about acting like everything is fine, then blocking the person. It is avoidant in nature, disingenuous and petty. It’s no problem, I just don’t want you misinterpreting what I’m saying because that’s not the sort of conversation I’m trying to have or encourage. I notice you’re a bit combative in nature with another comment as well, and I just really want to urge you to lower your defenses. We aren’t your enemies, just strangers trying to give you at the very least some angles on this situation that you didn’t consider before.

Given the context, I’m not sure what else he could’ve done for the situation to be less hurtful outside of not ending it at all. He gave you closure, even if you think it’s bs, it’s more than the ghosting that a lot of women get hit with. He could’ve strung you along or used you for his own benefit, but he was fair and ended things amicably. I guess that’s why I’m not sure why you took it so hard and blocked him rather than just simply deleting the guy. It seems so left field from how jovial your last text to him was. Maybe it would’ve been better to relay how you were feeling, even if you don’t like being vulnerable. But I guess it is what it is now.

If I were in your shoes the thing I would be most upset about is his ending it by text. My personal rule is if we've had sex she gets a face to face.
