What does it mean when a guy says he likes how understanding you are?

This is one of those things not to overthink and you have already done that. He is saying that you are understanding. Don't take to mean some hidden meaning. If you are in the talking stages that means he is getting to know you and what he is finding out is that you have an undestanding way about you. Maybe if you provide some context to what you were talking about before he said that then I could have a better idea what prompted him to say it. Without that I am just guessing the obvious that he fiinds you an understanding type of person. Don't take that to mean anything negative. It is quite the opposite and should be taken as a compliment.

Hi thanks for your reply. I was just unsure what he meant. So he was going to ring me yesterday or today and I could tell he had a long day and I just messaged him saying hope you have a good sleep ❤️ a few hours later as it got quite late. I didn’t ask why he didn’t ring or anything.
