Yes although I cannot be 100% sure of the outfit other than it was likely jeans and either a green or black top. All the other details I can remember very well.

About 3 or 4 PM, Friday, 10 AUG 1990, sitting at a table in the bottom floor (the "Rathskellar") of this building, the RPI Student Union:


We had been acquaintances because of a mutual friend; I had met her when I was passing by and she was talking to my friend that May. Over that summer, I bumped into her a few times but paid her no mind; I really didn't know her although she was a real beauty especially on our college campus - a college that was a sausage party.

Well, on that date in "the Rat", I was sitting at a table studying or something. It was a late Friday during the summer so no one was really down there but me. She came in and was on the opposite side of the floor; she was going to have a hair cutting appointment with Sissy who was also my barber (I had long hair then).

This girl, her name was Cynthia, recognized me and decided to come over and she sat with me. One thing we had in common besides our friend Cliff was that we both liked 1980s metal music. In fact, on 15 MAR 1989, Metallica came to RPI. I bought 4 tickets selling the 3 others to friends. Cliff bought one then sold it to Cynthia. These were floor tickets so I didn't sit next to her.

Anyway, back at that table, she sat with me and we got to be talking about what she was going to take in the upcoming semester which was starting on W 29 AUG. I was 5 years older and knew of the classes she was going to take, so I began to teach her one of those subjects, Operations Research. She was very bright - much smarter than I expected. Furthermore, beside our love of music, we discovered we both knew French. She was better than me at it.

After about 30 minutes to an hour, she left for her hair cutting appointment and I didn't see her again that day. But I was smitten - smitten like I hadn't been since September 1971.

12 days later, on W 22 AUG 1990, I told her I loved her and we were a couple.

By the first weekend in October, I knew I wanted to marry her.

Sadly, that did not happen and I've felt empty ever since.

Yes, she walked past my house on the way to the beach. She wore a tan warmup jacket and cutoff blue jeans. She has tennis sneakers that had holes in them.
