What does it mean when a guy tells you he'll listen to an artist you casually mention?

So there's this guy I am interested with. I try to hang around him lowkey. Whenever I casually mention an artist, he would say that he'll listen to that artist. After that, he told me that he listened to them and would sing songs from that artist randomly whenever were together. Does that even mean a thing?

You simply made him curious about those artists and their songs.

They are probably the kind of artists and/or songs that he likes and he is humming them to show you that he did follow your advice and he looked them up. Nothing very special in that type of behavior.

However, if you are interested in that guy, why don't you simply tell him that you have a crush on him or that you are infatuated in him? That would make it much easier for both and you would not have to wonder and overthink about his reaction.

It does not have to mean a thing. It could simply be a way for him to prove that he followed your advice.
